The legacy licensing server for RealityCapture will close down on August 3, 2026. If you set up a RealityCapture Enterprise license before April 2024 and are using any version earlier than 1.4, you need to update your access in order to continue using RealityCapture.

How to maintain access to your RealityCapture license

Download RealityCapture 1.4 or 1.5 before August 3 to preserve access to your RealityCapture license.
  • Go to capturingreality.com/my and sign in with your account ID.
  • Scroll down and download RealityCapture 1.4 or 1.5.
  • Install RealityCapture and launch the app.
In addition, if you have legacy PPI projects (saved in versions prior to 1.4), you’ll also need to take action to preserve these, or access will be lost.

How to unlock your legacy PPI projects

Legacy PPI projects will need to be resaved in RealityCapture 1.4 or a newer RealityScan version before August 3 or access to them will be lost. Follow the instructions below to do this:
  • Download and open the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Sign in with your Epic Games Account.
  • Navigate to the Unreal Engine section and select RealityScan tab.
  • Install and launch any version of RealityCapture or RealityScan.
  • Open any legacy PPI projects and click on the RealityScan logo.
  • Select Save as and resave your current project.

FAQs

Why are the RealityCapture license servers being discontinued?
This change enables us to focus our engineering efforts on advancing RealityScan’s capabilities.

When are the RealityCapture servers being discontinued?
Users will lose access on August 3, 2026. Please update to RealityScan 1.4 or 1.5 to avoid losing access to the app.

I own a RealityCapture Enterprise license, how does this change affect me?
If you’re still using RealityCapture 1.31 or older with your license, the application will stop working when the licensing servers are shut down. To prevent any disruption, you should update to RealityScan 1.4 or newer. You can do this here: capturingreality.com/My.

Alternatively, you can upgrade to RealityScan, which is subject to a new EULA and new licensing terms. You can find out more at realityscan.com/download.

My projects are PPI (pay-per-input). How does this change affect me?
You will need to convert your projects to non-PPI (pay-per-input) projects. Each project must be re-saved using RealityCapture version 1.4 or later. Unconverted PPI projects will not be accessible as of August 3, 2026.

Which versions of RealityCapture can I switch to?
You can download RealityCapture 1.4 or 1.5. Upgrading to RealityScan 2.0 or later will require acceptance of the RealityScan EULA, and use of the Epic Games Launcher or Developer Portal for download.

If I’m part of a government or educational institution, will this change affect me?
Government organizations can get RealityScan for free when used for non-commercial purposes. If you’re part of a government or educational institution with a RealityCapture Enterprise license, please update to RealityScan 2.0 or later from the Epic Games Launcher free of charge to continue access to your RealityScan projects.

Government organizations planning to use RealityScan to engage in commercial activities will have to procure the software through a third-party organization, which will be subject to the relevant licensing terms and revenue thresholds.
